"Pretend" explores themes of identity, authenticity, and the masks people wear in society. Through a vibrant and expressive style, Fragua often reflects on the complexities of cultural experience, particularly within Indigenous contexts.
In "Pretend," the title itself suggests a duality between reality and illusion, perhaps questioning what it means to "pretend" in the face of societal expectations. The imagery includes elements that symbolize the struggle between genuine self-expression and the pressures to conform or perform.
